Director Marine Corps Programs - IIF
Garry brings over 27 years of Marine Corps logistics and supply experience to the Lion Vallen Industries Management Team. He has been a Logistics and Supply Chief since enlisting in the Marine Corps in 1974. As his responsibilities increased over the years, his assignments included Small Unit Supply Chain Manager, Supply Analyst, Supply Instructor for both the Marine Corps’ Ground Supply Officer and Supply Chief courses, Automated System Operations Chief, Regional Distribution Center Chief, and Marine Corps Subject Matter Expert (SME) for supply applications. Garry retired from the Marine Corps as a Master Gunnery Sergeant (E-9).
Garry served as the East Coast Regional CIF Manager from the time he joined Lion in March 2001 to February 2005. As the East Coast Manager, Garry was responsible for supervising, coordinating, and leading the personnel and activities associated with LG2’s East Coast distribution network in support of its USMC Consolidated Issue Facility Program. During his tenure Garry was instrumental in standing up three additional regional satellite facilities. Working closely with the II Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) Logistics section, and the regional Contract Officer Representative, Garry prepared and presented Individual Combat Equipment (ICE) information and service solutions. During the Marine Corps major participation in Operations Enduring Freedom, Garry and his staff were formally recognized by Marine Corps leadership for providing exceptional customer service to the War Fighter.
Garry served as the Strategic Logistics and Operations Analyst for LG2 from March 2005 to May 2007. During this assignment Garry applied Six Sigma methods to analyze processes, develop procedures, and policy that added efficiencies to improve customer support. Working across the business unit Garry played a significant role helping to improve the processes used to issue Navy personnel individual uniform clothing, and several analyses to improve CIF processes. Garry participated with the development and implementation of the LG2 Warehouse Management System (High Jump) across the CIF enterprise. Garry also analyzed and develop business proposals which involve various operations requiring the combination of people, processes and technology.
From June 2007 through December 2008 Garry has served as the Program Operations Manager for the Consolidated Issue Facility contract. His duties included planning, coordinating, and establishing standard operational business structures, policies and procedures. Working closely with the LVI Business System Analyst, Garry was also instrumental in business system development, implementation, and operations improvement initiatives. He was the conduit for Government data calls and CIF procedural clarifications. Garry conducts routine operational and quality reviews, and host operations and quality assurance meetings. During this assignment, Garry developed a decentralized purchasing program to satisfy individual MEF needs, lead a software selection team for a new ERP solution, and continually collaborated with LVI senior leadership and strategic partners.
Since January 2009 Garry has served as the Director of Marine Corps Programs and Program Manager for the Individual Issue Facilities, U.S. Marine Corps. His responsibilities include the overall execution of program policy and initiatives. Overseeing an Operations Management, and Business Systems Analyst Department, and three regions, and over 150 employees, the IIF program is finically liable for approximately $1 Billion in assets. The program meets or exceeds Six Sigma standards and consistency delivers an average 99.1% inventory accuracy rate.
Garry earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Computer Information Systems from Campbell University and his Masters of Art degree in Management and Leadership from Webster University. In addition to his twenty-seven years with the Marine Corps, Garry has completed numerous logistics/supply chain/leadership related courses, workshops, and is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
