PROTECTING FIREFIGHTER HEALTH, IMPROVING ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY KEY FACTORS IN PROGRESSIVE STEP FORWARD

DAYTON, OH [October 7, 2024] – LION Safety Solutions, a business unit of LION Group Inc.,
is excited to announce today the next progression in its long partnership with the Chicago Fire
Department, the second largest fire department in the United States.

Since 2007, LION has manufactured and supplied the structural firefighting protective gear worn
by the more than 4,400 members of Chicago Fire Department, as well as provided cleaning,
inspection, and repair services for these assets. Beginning this month, all of Chicago Fire
Department’s turnout gear that is maintained through LION’s Chicago-based TotalCare facility
will be cleaned utilizing LION’s RedZone℠ CO2 cleaning technology. This technology, brought
to the fire service in partnership with Tersus Solutions, provides the most effective PPE cleaning
on the market. Conventional firefighting gear cleaning methods provide limited decontamination,
but RedZone CO2 cleaning eliminates, on average, 98 percent of poly-aromatic hydrocarbons
(PAHs) a class of chemicals that are produced by the partial burning of certain materials
commonly found at typical structural fires. Many PAHs that first responders encounter are
cancer-causing chemicals.

“We are thrilled to further our partnership with the City of Chicago and the Chicago Fire
Department as they continue to lead the industry by investing in the latest innovations available
to the fire service,” said Mark Smith, CEO of LION Safety Solutions. “By partnering with us to
convert our LION TotalCare PPE care and maintenance facility to incorporate our RedZone
CO2 cleaning technology, they are sending a strong message to their personnel and the fire
service that the health and safety of their members is the number one priority.”

“Our evolution to CO2 cleaning is most certainly an investment in protecting the health of our
firefighters, but it is also an investment that will help protect our city and our environment by
incorporating greener, more sustainable operations and processes,” said Chicago Fire
Commissioner Annette Nance-Holt.
