The week of February 26-March 1, 2024 marked a significant milestone for LION and a portion of its network of Distribution Sales Representatives from across the country. Held at LION's corporate office in Dayton, Ohio, this session of LION University was more than just a training event; it was a comprehensive learning and networking experience designed to empower those at the forefront of safety equipment distribution.
This year, representatives from esteemed organizations such as Dinges Fire Company, Allstar Fire Equipment, Witmer Fire Protective Association/The Fire Store, Fire End & Croker Corp, Daco Fire Equipment, Fire Tech & Safety, Phoenix Safety Outfitters, and SeaWestern Inc congregated to deepen their understanding of LION's mission and product offerings. The event was further enriched by the presence of strategic supplier partners, showcasing the collaborative spirit that drives the fire service industry.
LION University offered an in-depth look into LION's entire product portfolio. From Turnout Gear & Rescue Wear to Firefighter Essentials, ChemBio Gear, Uniforms, and LION TotalCare, attendees were given a holistic view of the products they represent. Additionally, the event highlighted both Digital and Live Fire Training Products, underscoring LION's commitment to innovation in training.
The sessions led by LION's Category Sales Managers and representatives from strategic supplier partners provided invaluable insights into the products' features, benefits, and real-world applications. This knowledge is crucial for sales reps as they advocate for LION's solutions to their clients.
A pivotal aspect of LION University was the case study presentations to the "LION Fire Department." This exercise allowed attendees to practice their product presentation skills in a realistic setting, receiving constructive feedback from experienced Team Leaders. This not only enhanced their product knowledge but also their confidence in representing LION's solutions effectively.
Beyond product knowledge, LION University emphasized the importance of honing presentation and communication skills. The case study presentation was a testament to LION's investment in the professional growth of its sales representatives, ensuring they are well-equipped to meet the challenges of their roles.

We have found that LION Distribution Sales Representatives with at least 6 months of selling in the field benefit the most from this immersive training. However, seasoned DSRs can also benefit from the program by receiving additional training and honing their presentation skills.

How often is LION University held?At this time, LION University is held twice a year, once in the late Winter/early Spring and once in the Fall.
What are the benefits of attending LION University?Attendees will receive in-depth product information from LION’s Category Sales Managers as well as from several key strategic supplier partners. It’s also a great opportunity to network with and learn from fellow DSRs around the country.
Are there any follow-up programs after attending LION University?All LION University attendees are enrolled in a LION U Alumni group that will receive continuous product information and marketing materials.
