LION CEO NAMED TO NATIONAL FALLEN FIREFIGHTERS FOUNDATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE

LION CEO Named to

National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Advisory Committee

May 30, 2024 | Press Release

DAYTON, OH – Building on a decades-long partnership with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF), LION – the largest family-owned manufacturer of first responder personal protective equipment (PPE) and uniforms in the United States – is proud to announce that Steve Schwartz, CEO & President, will join NFFF’s Advisory Committee.

STEVE CEO NFFF

During his three-year term, Schwartz will have the opportunity to provide advice and input on NFFF’s operations and serve on issue-specific committees and working groups, such as the Innovative Revenue Work Group. Schwartz joins NFFF’s Advisory Committee alongside three other industry leaders, including Vickie Pritchett, Vice President of the National Fire Sprinkler Association; Nick Pickens, President and COO of Cintas Fire Protection; and Matt Kraycinovich, President of Local Matters Broadcasting.

“I’m honored to join NFFF’s Advisory Committee and look forward to this opportunity to continue LION’s support for the important work of the Foundation,” said Steve Schwartz. “NFFF’s core mission is to honor and remember America’s fallen firefighters, support their families, and work to reduce preventable firefighter death and injury. As these causes are dear to me and to the entire LION operation, I am dedicated to using my time on the Advisory Committee to help NFFF further expand its reach and the important services it provides.”

“We are thrilled to have Steve Schwartz as one of the newest members of NFFF’s Advisory Committee,” said Victor Stagnaro, CEO of the NFFF. “His leadership experience in the corporate environment will serve as a great source of insight for the Foundation. In particular, he will be instrumental as we look toward future expansion to support the growing number of Fire Hero Families, and as we work to prevent preventable loss in the fire service.”

The four new Advisory Committee members formally began their terms during NFFF’s board meeting on May 4. This meeting coincided with the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, NFFF’s annual event that serves as the official national tribute to firefighters who have died in the line of duty. This year’s national tribute honored 226 firefighters—89 who died in the line of duty in 2023 and 137 who died in previous years.

Schwartz represented LION at the Memorial Service and was honored to take part in the ceremony by reading names of fallen heroes during the Flag Presentations. Each Fire Hero Family is presented with a rose, a commemorative badge, and a folded American Flag that has flown over the U.S. Capitol Dome and the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The weekend’s events offer those in and beyond the fire service community an opportunity to honor the bravery and sacrifice of fallen firefighters and the resiliency of their families and friends.

Detailed information about each of the 226 fallen firefighters memorialized in 2024 can be found on the 2024 Roll of Honor
