DIGITAL FIRE TOOLS ENABLE TRAINING IN ANY LOCATION

MARCH 25, 2024 | MATT GARDNER

Digital fire training tools have revolutionized how firefighters prepare for real-life emergencies. The innovation in this field is spearheaded by tools such as the LION’s Attack Panels, HyperFire Controller, Digital Nozzle, and Weighted Hoseline. Let's dive into how these state-of-the-art technologies are changing the landscape of fire training.

On-Demand Training: A Game Changer

Training is a critical component of a firefighter's life, ensuring readiness for when the alarm sounds. Traditional training methods, although effective, come with a set of limitations—significant preparation time, logistical hurdles, environmental conditions, and potential property damage. Enter LION’s Digital Fire Training tools. These tools are designed to simulate fire emergencies digitally, allowing firefighters to train anytime and anywhere, vastly reducing the constraints faced by traditional methods.

1. The Attack Panels

The Attack Panels mimic the dynamic and unpredictable nature of fire and can be completely controlled with a remote to display as Class A, Class B or Class C Electric fires. They display digital flames that respond to water from a hoseline off of a fire truck or from a Digital Nozzle that can be used when flowing water isn't an option. Unlike live burns, these panels require no live fire, meaning there's no risk of property damage, and they can be set up in any training room or even outdoors, with minimal preparation and no cleanup.

2. HyperFire Controller

Central to the ability to create larger arrays of digital fire is the HyperFire Controller, which acts as the brain, orchestrating scenarios and adjusting fire behavior amongst multiple Attack panels (Up to 9 at a time). It's easily programmable and can simulate a variety of fire situations. Since it's digital, it sidesteps the extensive safety protocols required for live fire exercises.

3. Digital Nozzle

The Digital Nozzle, when aimed and sprayed at the Attack Panels, sends data back to the HyperFire Controller, allowing for real-time interaction with the simulated fire. This offers practical hands-on experience without the need for actual water, extinguishing agents, or the inherent risks of real fire.

4. Weighted Hoseline

To add to the realism, the Weighted Hoseline simulates the heft and maneuverability of a charged fire hose, complete with realistic resistance. This provides physical conditioning and muscle memory training, which is crucial in actual fire scenarios.

Why Anytime, Anywhere Matters

The mobility and ease of setup of LION’s Digital Fire Training tools mean that departments can conduct training exercises in a multitude of environments, from the confines of a station house to a community center, without any logistical nightmares. This flexibility is paramount for small and volunteer departments with limited resources.

Moreover, these tools eliminate the red tape involved with planning live fire exercises, which can be laden with permits, environmental concerns, and post-training paperwork. There's no need to wait for perfect conditions or locations. Digital Fire Tools users are able to train in locations like Airports, Hotels, Schools and even Libraries in order to prepare to respond to emergencies in locations where critical emergencies are likely to occur, but without causing damage to property or structure.

The safety aspect cannot be overstressed. Digital training tools offer a zero-risk environment where mistakes become valuable lessons rather than safety hazards or costly damages. This peace of mind enables a more creative and thorough training curriculum.

LION’s Digital Fire Training tools represent an innovative leap in firefighter training. By blending realism with risk-free, eco-friendly, and flexible training solutions, these tools ensure that fire departments can maintain a state of constant readiness. The evolution of firefighting training has arrived, and it’s digital.
