Join other fire service professionals at our LION booth at FDIC for a 15-minute chat on the benefits of proactive gear cleaning, maintenance and repair. Led by Dekalb County Deputy Chief Jason Smith, a 25-year veteran of the fire service, this Chief Chat will focus on how best to utilize NFPA 1851 to structure cleaning and repair programming to realize cost savings, mitigate risks and lengthen the life of gear.
Jason Smith currently services as the Deputy Fire Chief over Support and Fiscal Services for DeKalb County, GA. He is a 25 year member of the department and his responsibilities include facilities management, fleet management, supply and logistics, equipment repair, SPLOST construction management, budget, procurement, contracts, and grant management. Prior to holding his current position title, he has also served as Captain, Battalion Chief, Assistant Chief, and Deputy Fire Chief. He also served on the Hazardous Materials Team from 1999 to 2005. He has a B.S. in Health Science from Georgia Southern University in addition to a M.S. in Public Administration from Anna Maria College. Deputy Chief Smith has proudly been married to his wife, Kathy, for 23 years and have three children.
